What is a Giclée?

Pronounced Zhee-CLAY, it is a Fine Art Reproduction using computer-controlled, state-of-the-art equipment, which produces highly-detailed, accurate reproductions of artwork using archival-quality, non-fade, pigmented inks that fuse with the paper or canvas surface — which is also acid-free, archival and museum-quality — the perfect technology chosen for small-denomination, limited editions of art work worldwide.

Similar to ink-jet in raw concept, but vastly superior, the specialized reproduction equipment is made to apply computer-controlled, microscopic dots of ink precisely measured at a resolution of nearly 3000 dots per inch.

For reference, compare that to the high-quality, slick magazines such as Architectural Digest, known for it's fine photography and printing, yet printed using lithography at a much-higher than industry standard 200dpi.

The vast majority of standard desktop inkjet printers —even the finest brands — use dyes, not pigments, and as a result will fade noticeably within anywhere from a few days to several months.

Pigmented Inks are laboratory tested for fade resistance in age-accelerated conditions, and are guaranteed to 100+ years fade resistance.
